We'll Cross That Bridge When We Get There

For some reason, I thought that this summer was going to last forever. But as time does, it flew by in the blink of an eye. Whenever anyone asks me what my next move is, I simply say, "oh, we'll cross that bridge when we get there." Well, here we are, quite literally, at the Brooklyn Bridge & I still have no idea what the hell I'm doing.

I've been applying for a million jobs, going to interviews, looking at apartments...the whole shebang. Trying to be an adult is the weirdest transition in the whole world. I keep thinking that I'll be going back to school in a couple weeks & I'm honestly absolutely hating the uncertainty of not knowing what's coming next for me. As much as I desperately miss Florida (believe me I'm so torn between staying & going), I know that I'll regret it if I don't take a chance at trying to make this whole NYC thing work for at least a year.

Meanwhile, I'm basically waking up in cold sweat, panic attack mode every morning because I don't want to make the wrong decision & end up sleeping in the subway. I'm constantly questioning if trying to stay here is even the right move. But I love it here though, I'm young & any career that I want to have is going to be in industries that are thriving here.

So, what have I got to lose...except my sanity.

 Love,

Varisty Blues

I love mixing girly pieces with menswear inspired ones. When I spotted this varsity jacket at H&M, I totally fell in love. It added a little boyish structure to my flouncy, floral dress & sparkly Zara shoes. I was throwing off some major '50s vibes in my favorite cat-eyed sunnies, too.

Today seemed like the longest day ever. I must have written & responded to, like, a million e-mails. I got a paper cut. I was tired, but it's still exactly what I want to be doing though. Not everyday is the most exciting day ever. Some days I just want to lay in bed, listen to music & eat mochi ice cream or just walk around aimlessly, staring up at buildings & taking pictures of everything. But I feel like so many cool things have been happening to me lately because of how positive I feel most of the time. I love being busy. I never thought that I'd be someone to say that out loud, but it's true. I'm fast paced at heart & this place knows just how to keep me on my toes.

Love,
A

Black & Blue

So, I'm finally getting the hang of this whole NYC thing. I've finally established a little routine. I can kind of get around without being glued to some kind of app that tells me every single turn to make. I've ventured to Brooklyn & back a few times. I've officially been to some shows, including The Orwell's who I caught at two different venues last night. I really don't think I'll ever tire of them. I've gotten into some interesting situations. I'm seriously loving every second in this city. There's never a dull moment.

I've been doing everything that I set out to do here & it's honestly an amazing feeling. I love all of the people that I've met so far. I love my internships. I love where I'm living. The only thing I don't love is when I get caught in the rain without an umbrella & I'm carrying a million things. But honestly, the weather has been gorgeous for the most part. The other day, my new friend & fellow CollegeFashionista intern, Kali, took some photos of me on her fancy nancy camera. I've been living in rompers & sandals this summer. Also, lately, my color of choice for the summer has been black. Let me tell you, black clothes + sun + concrete = gross sweaty mess. I desperately need some color up in here.

Love,
A

Little China Girl

Now that I've made it through my first week in the city, I'm convinced that I can do anything. It was a crazy first week. I got off the plane, into a cab & moved into my NYU dorm on Monday. It's quaint but has high ceilings & wooden floors. I live next to Chinatown off of Lafayette Street, which I love because of the dumplings that are right around the corner. I can really go crazy on some dumplings, let me tell you. It's a two second walk to Soho, which is my favorite place in the city. It's right next to the subway and an actual Subway, in case you're curious. It's perfect.

My internships have been insane. Figuring out the subway has been insane (thank god for Hopstop & Embark). Walking everywhere has been insane. I started at Marie Claire the day after I arrived & CollegeFashionista yesterday. On the first day at Marie Claire, I got there at 8 am & didn't leave until midnight. The rest of the week was just as crazy. Packing & unpacking for shoots, checking things in & out of the closet and going on runs is pretty intense at first. It makes such a difference to do something that you love, though. It's honestly a dream. I get to handle designer clothes, bags & shoes all day, like what more could a girl ask for?

Here's a few snaps from my new neck of the woods & a few of me, too.

NYC, I love you,

A
