Catching Up

As much as I hate to admit this in print, I have completely neglected  my beloved Stellar Piece  because I have been an extremely busy girl lately. Luckily, I've been preoccupied in the best of ways. October has been good to me this year and I want to fill you in with all of the marvelous things that I have been up to this month.

My brand new walk-in closet is finally done. It doesn't really matter though because I'm still trying to figure out how to organize my plethora of clothes. I have had to part ways with way too many pieces of clothing, yet my room is still a complete disaster. I'll let you know if I ever dig myself out of this mountain of clothes that I insist on keeping even though I will never wear them.

If you don't know about Maddie the Coonhound, I truly feel bad for you as a human. Her owner travels all over the place with her and takes photographs of Maddie doing outlandish things. So I snapped a shot of my puppy, Bentley, doing just about the only thing he was capable of doing. Slightly underwhelming, but nevertheless cute.

I finally just got through the worst cold that I have had in a very long time, so I've been taking advantage of the fact that I have the energy to dress myself again. Here are a few of the outfits I have donned this past week. As you can tell, I have been incorporating a ton of denim, leather, and random pops of color as we transition into Fall. It's still a sweltering 90 degrees outside on most days though, but hopefully my outfits can persuade the weather to do otherwise.

Halloween is coming up next week and I haven't the slightest clue about what I will be wearing. Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller did a post about Halloween costumes where she suggested Margot Tenenbaum as an option, which completely stole my heart. On my latest trip to Target, I did try to squeeze into this rocket ship costume, but the results were less than satisfactory.
On a side note, I had a run-in with massive amount of zombie ducks the other night, which was more terrifying than you might imagine.

I think the ultimate reason that October has been so lovely for me is because I've been spending the month getting to know the most wonderful human. I am currently the happiest I have been in a very long time. Jake is the very best: cuddler //skateboarder // drive in movie buddy // cube // Economics teacher // professional Pizza Roll chef  that I could have ever hoped to meet. Also did I mention that he doesn't mall grab, I mean what more could I ask for...

I will leave you all with this photo of Tard the Grumpy Cat to level out the sappiness than just took place.

Closet Watch: Peter Pan Collars

I was a lot thinking my own wardrobe today while I was style stalking at the USF Library Starbucks with Jacquelyn. What outfits do I wear a lot, what colors do I incorporate often, and what trends do I lean towards?

Three words immediately came to mind: Peter Pan collars. I know that with Peter Pan collars people either love them or hate them, but I happen to absolutely adore them. Peter Pan collared tops, sweaters, and dresses are great to wear all year round and they add an air of classiness to any outfit. Also, I might be a bit biased about Peter Pan collars because my style icon // mega girl crush, Alexa Chung often incorporates them into her outfits.

It only took me a couple minutes to scrounge up some photographs of my favorite Peter Pan collared tops and dresses that I own, so enjoy.

Here are some Peter Pan collar dresses, tops, and necklaces that I would absolutely adore seeing in my closet in the future. Especially the DANNIJO Hilde Collar Necklaces which I often see on Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller.

Whether you like them or not, Peter Pan collars are here to stay (for now at least). I highly suggest that you embrace them because they are a cute way to change up your wardrobe, or in my case openly show the world about my deep, slightly creepy, adoration of Alexa.

Where do you find inspiration for your favorite trends?

Top 5 Current Faves

1. Cropped boyish hair & equally boyish outfits.
There is nothing like a beautiful girl who emanates femininity behind cropped hair and menswear (I rhyme on the side). I am forever wishing that I was ballsy enough (and had the bone structure) to pull of boy short hair. Oh, the woes of having chubby chipmunk cheeks. Maybe one day...

2. The Lovely Miss Cara Delevingne

There is just something wonderfully spectacular about Cara. She really stood out to me while I was keeping up with different shows this season. I absolutely loved her looks for Jason Wu and Marc Jacobs. There is something super quirky and crazy about her. I think it's extremely charming how she doesn't seem to take herself too seriously. We were born on the same day of the same year (August 12th, 1992) as well. So she's like my more beautiful, more amazing counterpart.

Also, homegirl invited Harry Styles to watch her at the Burberry show.

Mmm, on a side note, Aaron Paul looks like such a babe *.*

3. My Dylana + Natalie Suarez x Modern Vice JETT Boots
The fact that I honestly fell in love with these boots the minute I laid eyes on them + my growing adoration of Natalie Suarez made the purchase of these JETT's a no brainer. They are the most amazing boots I currently own. They honestly go with pretty much everything, from baby doll dresses to skinnies to high waisted shorts. I can't wait until Fall and Winter (or lack there of here in Florida) because I am going to be wearing these babies every damn day.

Here are a few photos I snapped on Instagram of me & my JETT's:

 4. Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller

It is almost insane how much I look up to this woman. I swear everything that she puts on her body and everything that comes out of her mouth is pure gold. I can really relate to her 'man repelling' outfit choices. I love her writing and I also love her weird attitude. I love that she calls lots of bracelets 'arm parties' and/or 'arm soirees'. I'll forever be a Man Repeller groupie.

5. Oversized Denim Shirts
My dad lives in Hong Kong and I begged him to send me a few of his older denim shirts and this is my favorite of the things that he sent me. It's a Levi's black denim shirt and I wore it today with some teeny tiny shorts underneath so that I wouldn't flash anyone at school. I paired it with some leopard flats that I bought the last time I was in HK. All in all, the entire ensemble was a homage to Hong Kong (missing you).

Love,

Aisha
